Jesus The Son of God is God

Question: What are the bases that Prove Jesus the Son of God is God?

Answer: According to the Bible, the following are Just some of the bases that Jesus the Son of God is God:

1. The birth of Jesus Christ was through the Holy Spirit and not through the marital relations between Joseph and Mary, as married couple. Several prophets, including Isaiah prophesied on His birth.

(Isaiah 7:14, NIV) Therefore the Lord himself will give you [The Hebrew is plural.] a sign: The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and [Masoretic Text; Dead Sea Scrolls and he or and they] will call him Immanuel. [Immanuel means God with us.]

(Matthew 1:18, NIV) This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.

(Matthew 1:20-21, 23, NIV) But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 1:21) She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, [Jesus is the Greek form of Joshua, which means the LORD saves.] because he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:23) “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” — [Isaiah 7:14] which means, “God with us.”

(Luke 1:26-27; 30-32, NIV) In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, (Luke 1:27) to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. (Luke 1:30) But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favour with God. (Luke 1:31) You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. (Luke 1:32) He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,

2. In many instances, Jesus was accorded with adoration that befits to God.

2.1 The wise men worshiped the child Jesus.

(Matthew 2:11, NIV) "On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh."

2.2 The man with leprosy worshiped Jesus

(Matthew 8:2, NIV) A man with leprosy [The Greek word was used for various diseases affecting the skin — not necessarily leprosy.] came and knelt before him and said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean.”

2.3 The apostles worshiped Jesus, and he did not prevent them in doing so.

(Matthew 14:33, NIV) "Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, truly you are the Son of God.”

2.4 Jesus was worshiped by the Canaanite woman

(Matthew 15:25, NIV) "The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said."

2.5 Jesus was worshiped by the blind man who was able to see.

(John 9:38, NIV) "Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him."

2.6 God the father commanded that he (Jesus Christ) be worshiped by all of his angels.

(Hebrews 1:6, NIV) "And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him."

(Matthew 4:10-11, NIV) "Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: `Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’ (Matthew 4:11) “Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him."

(Mark 1:13, NIV) and he was in the desert for forty days, being tempted by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.

3. Jesus was given a name that is above every name, and that at his name Jesus, every knee in heaven and on the earth and under the earth should bow.

(Philippians 2:9-10, NIV) "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, (Philippians 2:10) that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth."

It is written..."You shall have no other gods before me. You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, I am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me," (Exodus 20:3-5, NIV)

Note: God the Father has permitted Christ to be worshiped, according to the letter of Peter to the Philippians (Philippians 2:9-10). The commandment of God that “You shall have no other gods before me” according to the book of Moses in Exodus refer to other ‘gods’ and that exclude his Son. It is clear that He is not jealous when His Son is being worshiped, because God himself was the one who commanded that the Son of God to be worshiped by the angels (Hebrews 1:6).

4. The “Word”, a name bestowed to Christ literally referred to in the holy scriptures as “God”.

5. Jesus Christ is the Son of God

5.1 There were testimonies by the apostles and other faithfuls that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

(Matthew 14:33, NIV) Then those {disciples} who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”

(Mark 1:1, NIV) The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God. [Some manuscripts: do not have the Son of God.]

(John 1:34, NIV) I {John the Baptist} have seen and I testify that this (referring to Jesus) is the Son of God.”

(John 11:27, NIV) “Yes, Lord,” she told him, “I {Martha} believe that you are the Christ, [Or Messiah] the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”

(Matthew 16:16, NIV) Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

(Acts 8:37, NIV) Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” The eunuch answered, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

(Acts 9:20, NIV) At once he {Saul/Paul-Acts 13:9} began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God.

(Romans 1:4, NIV) and who through the Spirit [Or who as to his spirit] of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God, [Or was appointed to be the Son of God with power] by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

(II Corinthians 1:19, NIV) For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by me and Silas [Greek: Silvanus, a variant of Silas] and Timothy, was not “Yes” and “No”, but in him it has always been “Yes.”

(Galatians 2:20, NIV) I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

(Hebrews 4:14, NIV) Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, [Or gone into heaven] Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess.

(I John 4:15, NIV) If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God.

(I John 5:5, NIV) Who is it that overcomes the world? Only he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.

5.2 Jesus Christ himself declared that he is the Son of God.

(Matthew 26:63-64, NIV) But Jesus remained silent. The high priest said to him, “I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, [Or Messiah; also in verse 68] the Son of God.” (Matthew 26:64) “Yes, it is as you say,” Jesus replied. “But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

(Luke 22:70, NIV) They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?” He replied, “You are right in saying I am.

5.3 God the Father revealed that Christ is his Son; and He is his Father.

(I Chronicles 17:13, NIV) I will be his father, and he will be my son. I will never take my love away from him, as I took it away from your predecessor.

(Psalm 2:7, NIV) “I will proclaim the decree of the LORD: He said to me, “You are my Son; [Or son; also in verse 12] today I have become your Father. [Or have begotten you] (Hebrews 1:5)

(Matthew 3:17, NIV) And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

(Matthew 17:5, NIV) While he was still speaking, a bright cloud enveloped them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”(Mark 9:7, Luke 9:35, 2 Peter 1:17)

(Hebrews 5:5, NIV) So Christ also did not take upon himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him, “You are my Son; today I have become your Father.” [Or have begotten you] [Psalm 2:7]

Note: The (Almighty) Father is God and Christ is the Son of God, therefore, Christ himself is God.

6. The fullness of the deity lives in the bodily form of Christ.

(Colossians 2:9, NIV) "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,"

Note: When said “Deity lives in bodily form” this means the nature of being God remains even when Christ became flesh (John 1:14).

(John 1:14, NIV) “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only {Son}, [Or the Only Begotten] who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”

7. If those who heard the word of God are called ‘gods’, then it is right to admit that Christ, being the Son of God, is God.

(John 10:33-36, NIV) “We are not stoning you for any of these,” replied the Jews, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.” (John 10:34) Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, `I have said you are gods’? [Psalm 82:6]* (John 10:35) If he called them `gods’, to whom the word of God came — and the Scripture cannot be broken — (John 10:36) what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, `I am God’s Son’?"

*Related Verse: Psalm 82:6, NIV - “I said, `You are “gods”; you are all sons of the Most High.’

(John 20:28, NIV) "Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”."

9. Christ is being in very nature God.

(Philippians 2:6-8, NIV) "Who, being in very nature [Or in the form of] God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, (Philippians 2:7) but made himself nothing, taking the very nature [Or the form] of a servant, being made in human likeness. (Philippians 2:8) And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross!"

Note: Christ did not consider his equality with God in order to make true the reason for his coming, to die on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. Because if Christ will come in God’s form, he could not have died for the forgiveness of our sins. He was made flesh to be able to directly teach man, being the prophet for the last days. Man in reality is not meant to be worshiped but Christ, being the son of God, while in human form has been worshiped.

(Hebrews 1:3, NIV) "The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven."

(Colossians 1:15, NIV) He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

(Colossians 2:9, NIV) "For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form,"

(Psalm 45:6, NIV) Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a sceptre of justice will be the sceptre of your kingdom.

(Hebrews 1:8, NIV) "But about the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the sceptre of your kingdom."

Summary:

The birth of Jesus Christ was prophesied by several prophets, including Isaiah (Isaiah 7:14). Christ was conceived though the Holy Spirit and not through the marital relations between Joseph and Mary as engaged couple (Matthew 1:18, 20-21, 23; Luke 1:26-27; 30-32).

In many instances, Jesus was accorded with adoration that befits to God. The wise men worshiped the child Jesus (Matthew 2:11), worshiped by the man with leprosy (Matthew 8:2), worshiped by the apostles (Matthew 14:33), worshiped by the Canaanite woman (Matthew 15:25), worshiped by the blind man who was able to see (John 9:38) and even worshiped by the angels, as commanded by God (Hebrews 1:6; Matthew 4:10-11; Mark 1:13).

Jesus was given a name that is above every name, and that at his name Jesus, every knee in heaven and on the earth and under the earth should bow (Philippians 2:9-10). The “Word” (or Verbo), a name bestowed to Christ literally referred to in the Holy Scriptures as “God” (John 1:1).

Jesus Christ was acknowledged by his apostles and other faithfuls as the Son of God (Matthew 14:33; Mark 1:1; John 1:34; 11:27; Acts 8:37; 9:20; Romans 1:4; II Corinthians 1:19; Galatians 2:20; Hebrews 4:14; I John 4:15; 5:5). Jesus Christ himself declared that he is the Son of God (Matthew 26:63-64; Luke 22:70). Furthermore, God the Father himself revealed that Christ is His Son and He is His Father (I Chronicles 17:13; Psalm 2:7; Matthew 3:17; 17:5; Mark 9:7; Luke 9:35; Hebrews 1:5; Hebrews 5:5; II Peter 1:17).

The fullness of the deity lives in the bodily form of Christ (Colossians 2:9). This means the nature of being God remains even when Christ became flesh (John 1:14).

If those who heard the word of God are called ‘gods’, then it is proper to admit that Christ, being the Son of God, is God (John 10:33-26).

Even Thomas, one of the apostles of Jesus Christ, said that he is his Lord and God. (John 20:28)

Christ is being in very nature God (Philippians 2:6-8) has the radiance of God’s glory and exact representation of his being (Hebrews 1:3) and the image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). This means that the nature of the Son of God is the same with God the Father.

Lastly, God the Father declared that Christ, the Son of God is God (Psalm 45:6, Hebrews 1:8). Therefore, you cannot refute that Christ, being the Son of God is God. However, he has to become flesh (Man) (John 1:14) in order to die for the forgiveness of our sins.

If the angels that are of higher class compared to man worshiped the Son of God, and in many instances, worshiped by man and by the apostles, then we should do the same thing.

According to the verses mentioned above, and if the Spirit of God is with us, we have to believe that Jesus, the Son of God is God. It is important to know and The True Meaning according to the Holy Scriptures!
